Every type of Angler is catered for in the area. For Sea Angling, Luce Bay is one of the finest Tope grounds in Britain and Loch Ryan is famous for Conger Eel and is sheltered from many weather conditions. Sea fishing trips can be organised from Stranraer and Port Patrick. Trout fishermen are also well catered for with several well stocked Lochs in the area.  There are also some good salmon rivers in the vicinity and Lagganhouse Country Park is located within walking distance of the River Stinchar which is one of the most productive salmon fishing rivers in Ayrshire and has some excellent fly fishing water.
