South Ayrshire is abound with picturesque walks and is ideal for walkers of all abilities. For the more adventurous the Southern Upland Way begins at Portpatrick and finishes 212 miles later in the Scottish Borders. There are plenty of walks in the area – both along the river banks and in the surrounding hills. The Stinchar Valley Trails are well signposted as are the shorter walks.
For a tremendous panoramic view of the whole valley and the surrounding hills, as well as of Ailsa Craig, The Isle of Arran, the Mull of Kintyre, and on a clear day, Northeren Ireland – try the short, fairly steep walk to the top of Knockdolian Hill.
